If you are pregnant or the mother of a young child, the NYPD wants to throw you a baby shower.
This is an initiative of the NYPD’s community affairs department where they support mothers from different counties in a massive event.
During the celebrations, in addition to giving them baby items, they also offer them help with paperwork and even medical checkups.
Nikaulys Gutierrez, one of the organizers, pointed out that this initiative is 3 years old.
“It was born in Bronx County 3 years ago with 57 women and now we have more than 5,000 in all boroughs,” he said.
“It is a way to unite the police with the community,” she added, “there are many women who do not have any kind of help.”
In October, the police have four more events where interested mothers can attend.
