(Motorsport-Total.com) – Mitch Evans complains about Nyck de Vries’ gait after the Formula E Sunday race in New York. The latter had gone inside at Turn 10, so there was first contact between the Dutchman and Evans and then contact between the New Zealander and Alexander Sims. Evans was furious and speaks of a “stupid maneuver”.

Evans was ultimately classified third after an eventful race while Sims, who nearly spun in the incident, finished fourth behind him. De Vries ended up seventh. According to Evans, Sims had already “defended himself hard” before the incident, as the Jaguar driver believes the Briton was struggling with battery or energy problems.
“In turn 10 he then blocked very hard,” sums up Evans. “Nyck decided very late to try to overtake, which almost put me and Alexander out of the race. It was a completely stupid maneuver. I know he was told to try it, but I don’t think it was a great move was.”
Evans then chased the Dutchman and almost lost control of his car on a bump at Turn 6. A strong maneuver saved him.
“I hit the pothole in the braking zone, so I was really lucky to get away with it,” he says. “I almost wet my pants there, had massive flat spots on the tires and tried to pull myself together. In the end I overtook Alexander, but I think we could have won.”
After the double header in New York, Evans is third in the overall standings with 139 points. Stoffel Vandoorne (155 points) and Edoardo Mortara (144 points) are ahead of him. When asked about a title favorite, he replies to ‘Ran.de’: “You’re looking at him! No, but it’s still very close and we still have four races to go. Our car did very well today and all weekend is working.”
