The Mexican team won the duel 5-0, they who won the first leg 1-0 in March.
The Big Apple club became the second Major League soccer team to be eliminated, as the Montreal Impact was unable to close the backlog against CD Olimpia, earlier in evening.
The winners registered for the mark in the 30th minute. Forward André-Pierre Gignac redirected Luis Quinones’ cross with his header, which left goalkeeper Luis Barraza no chance.
In the 49th minute, Leonardo Fernandez doubled the Mexicans’ lead. Quinones also got an assist on this achievement.
The Tigers therefore advance to the semi-finals of the competition. These will take place on December 19, while the final will be played on December 22.
