The Mayor of the City of New York, Bill de Blasio, said that the recovery of the city will be carried out under principles of equality for all the inhabitants of the Big Apple.
He reported that a vaccination center was opened in Harlem, installed in the First Corinthian Baptist Church, in order to have greater contact with the community.
He stressed that last Friday the record number of 76,000 people vaccinated in one day was reached.
He noted that the total administered doses is 1,944,673 and that with the J&J vaccine it is expected to have 5 million New Yorkers inoculated by June.
The Mayor stressed that to regain economic vitality the city government will develop capital projects with a budget of $ 17,000 million.
Some of the projects will focus on:
- Increase the quota of school sites.
- Build and preserve affordable housing.
- Improve coastal resistance.
- Increase safety and mobility on the streets.
De Blasio stressed that Outdoor Culture Program has started to receive all applications in order to reactivate the performing arts in the city. For applications, visit: nyc.gov/openculture
She emphasized that New York will give special recognition to the contributions of New Yorkers to celebrate Women’s Month.
Regarding the new indicators used to measure progress in the fight against coronavirus, the most recent data showed:
- Number of positive cases admitted to hospitals: 233 (65%)
- Number of hospitalizations per 100,000 population, 7-day median (NYS): 4.33
- COVID-19 reported cases, 7-day average: 3,358
- Percentage of patients who tested positive, 7-day average: 6.13%
