NEW YORK — An 80-year-old woman riding the Manhattan subway was caught in a bizarre ambush that left her on the floor of a train car in broad daylight over the weekend, authorities said.
According to New York City Police, the woman was on a southbound 6 train at Lexington Avenue y East 68th Street around 4:30 p.m. Saturday when a suspect unprovoked hit her on the head, back and shoulder several times with his hands.
She fell to the ground and he ran off the train at the East 59th Street station.
The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
