NEW YORK – The passage of Storm Ida left destruction in New York City and the belongings of thousands of residents became souvenirs that invade the platforms of those affected areas and are collected by workers from the city’s Sanitation Department.
Each of these employees has worked day and night to clear the debris and continue their efforts throughout the holiday weekend, including Labor Day.
“We are sorry to see so many of our fellow New Yorkers who have suffered losses, but we are happy to be there to help with the cleanup and rebuilding process. Our Workers made storm-related collections overnight, and that work will continue, including Labor Day Monday, ”the department said on its Twitter account on Saturday.
