NYC Public Libraries Open All Remaining Pre-Pandemic Served Locations – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORKNew York City public libraries serving the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island will reopen their remaining available locations almost completely in July.

All but 15 NYPL branches will be open. Those that remain closed is because they are under construction or need repairs or are under city use and will open later in July.

Starting in July, Open Libraries will offer unlimited browsing, open seating, use of desktop computers, loan of laptops, on-the-go options and, when possible, outdoor programming. The interior programming will be gradually restored.

Research centers will offer the use of collections by appointment and, where possible, walk-in access and access to exhibits.

The schedule will return to the way it was before the pandemic starting July 19. Some hours will be modified to adjust to changes in use). Right now most locations open at 11:00 am

Additionally, the use of masks remains mandatory at all NYPL locations.

As part of this significant moment in the city’s awakening, the Library is (re) opening two unique and important public spaces: the new rooftop public space in its newly transformed central circulation library, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library. at 455 Fifth Avenue, and Rose’s iconic Main Reading Room at the 42nd Street Library, which will be open to walk-ins who wish to sit and work quietly for the first time since March 2020.
