NYC prepares for its first seasonal snowstorm

Municipal government officials and service crews are preparing for the first snow of the season. It is forecast to occur this Monday during the morning commute hours.

Mayor Adams held a press conference this Sunday to update residents on the preparations.

1 to 3 inches of snow has been forecast in the city and the snowfall may be heaviest on Monday morning.

More than 700 salt spreaders are ready to go.

Officials advised New Yorkers to hit the streets slowly and safely and use public transportation instead of driving.

The mayor noted that Cleaning Department workers go out on Sunday night to spread salt on the streets and emphasized citizens to be cautious as transportation conditions could be dangerous.

The temperature is forecast to drop to 20 degrees Fahrenheit at night, which could freeze pavement on sidewalks and streets.

Mayor Adams encouraged citizens to be in contact with our most vulnerable loved ones before the storm.
