NYC Police Shoot and Kill Suspect in Manhattan After Violent Struggle

NEW YORK – A suspect died after being shot multiple times in an incident involving New York City police officers Tuesday afternoon in Manhattan, authorities said at a news conference after the shooting.

In preliminary information provided during the conference, the uniformed officer indicated that around 2:43 p.m. a group of anti-gang violence officers from the New York City Police and Security Country in the area of ​​24th Street and 7th Avenue, in Chelsea, looking for a 25-year-old suspect in connection with a case of criminal assault that happened earlier this month. They did not disclose the nature of the crime.

Authorities saw the suspect in front of 200 W 24th Street who fled into a business, police said.
At that time officers tried to arrest him inside the store and a violent struggle ensued.

The man allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the uniformed officers several times. The man, who was shot 3 times in different parts of the body, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

During the violent riot, a member of the task force suffered a cut to the head. He was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Police know the suspect well and at the scene police recovered a .40 caliber gun.
