NYC High School Students Can Work Out for Free at Planet Fitness This Summer – NBC New York (47)

New York City high school students will be able to get a free membership this summer at Planet Fitness gyms, the company and Mayor Adams announced Thursday.

Students ages 14 to 19 will have access to two months of free membership at any of the gym’s 41 locations in all five boroughs, as well as throughout the United States and Canada, the company said.

“We are thrilled to announce this partnership with Planet Fitness, which will allow our young New Yorkers to focus on their physical and mental health in a space free of judgment and free of charge,” said Adams.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The High School Summer Pass™ program is for teens ages 14-19 only. Those under the age of 18 can register with a parent/guardian (online or at the gym) from May 16 to August 31.

Once you’ve signed up, download the Planet Fitness app to get your Summer Pass digital keyring.

It is important to note that during the High School Summer Pass program, you will only have access to the gym that you select. Find the one in your area here.

OTHER BENEFITS

All participants will also have access to free fitness classes offered through the Planet Fitness PE@PF program. You can view the club class schedule and sign up for classes by visiting your local gym. The mobile app also features a variety of workouts that are categorized by fitness level and will help you focus on your personal goals, according to Planet Fitness.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Students who enroll will have a chance to win a $500 scholarship, with one awarded per state. They will also be entered to win a $5,000 top prize scholarship.
