GABLE. Brynäs is the favorite in the quarter-finals against Nybro.

The Gävle team was really bad in the first match – but with two goals in 51 seconds they turned to victory.

– Great to win the first match at home and get off to a good start, says Brynäs’ Simon Robertsson.

As series winners, Brynäs had to choose their opponent in the quarter-finals first of all teams.

The choice fell on the newcomer Nybro and most people have guessed a relatively easy path to the semi-finals for the Gävle team.

But the first match was anything but an easy journey for the favorite.

After 40 minutes it was still goalless:

– We go out with the attitude that we have everything to win and all the pressure is on them. As the whole journalist-Sweden has written about this match series, they will clean us out with 4-0 in matches. We are here to refute everyone else, says Nybrocentern Daniel Sylwander to TV4.

And right at the start of the third period, Nybro silenced and shocked the 6,512 in the home crowd when Filip Eriksson scored the first goal of the match.

Nybro also got the chance in a power play before the home crowd had to cheer.

Two goals in 51 seconds

Shooting king Jack Kopacka exploded in a change of pace and created a free position where Simon Robertsson could push in the rebound.

Only 51 seconds later, Tyler Vesel was able to score the lead goal directly, served by Greg Scott, after Nybros had played firmly in their own zone.

In the first two periods, Nybro created as many chances as the home team and the successful goalkeeper Damian Clara was the big reason why Nybro was kept clean.

Brynäs also had a lot of chances, but Tex Williamsson played great in Nybro’s goal.

The girl to the audience: “Believed in more”

6,512 spectators saw the match on site in Gävle. Nybro defender Nichlas Torp was not too impressed by the pressure in the Monitor ERP arena.

– It was perfectly fine. I actually thought it would be a little more. I thought they would end up in Gävle now. It was good, but I thought it would be full.

Is there better pressure in Nybro?

– We have a smaller hall, but it’s always full there, he smiles.

Match two of this quarter-final is played on Tuesday, even then Brynäs is the home team.
