Apple could probably have gotten away with giving the new Ipad Air the A15 Bionic chipset that is in the Iphone 13 series, which in itself would have given a real boost in performance. But instead we get the M1 chipset that sits in Apple’s computers and the iPad Pro series. This means 60 percent better performance and double graphics performance compared to the previous generation Ipad Air.
The design is otherwise the same from the previous generation. It has the advantage that accessories from the previous generation, including the folio keyboard and Magic Keyboard, fit the new generation, but compared to newer Android tablets, the black frames around the screen start to feel a bit thick.
As before, the iPad Air (2022) has a USB C port for charging and for being able to connect loose disks, for example. If you do, you can be happy that the data transfer speed has doubled.
Another improvement on the short list compared to the previous generation is that the camera on the front is now a wide-angle camera of 12 megapixels. This means that it supports Apple’s Center Stage function, which allows the camera to recognize people in the picture and make sure to center on them. If more people enter the picture, the section and centering change.
The screen is anti-reflective treated with 500 nits brightness. If you want a built-in SIM card, it is now available with 5G.
The shell is now made of 100 percent recycled aluminum. Apple Ipad Air (2022) is sold in five colors with 64 or 256 GB of storage and with or without space for SIM cards. The prices are distributed as follows:
64 GB Wifi: 7,495 kr
256 GB Wifi: 9,295 kr
64 GB 5g: 9,295 kr
256 GB 5g: 11,095 kr
The iPad Air (2022) goes on sale on March 18.
