NY Transit Museum’s Miniature Christmas Train Exhibit Returns Free for 1st Time Since Pandemic

This Christmas season, the Grand Central Gallery & Store del New York Transit Museum hosts a city within a city with the display of a miniature electric railway that runs through, through and under some of New York’s most magnificent landmarks.

This beloved holiday exhibit, returning for the first time since the museum’s pandemic closure, features Lionel model trains traveling along a two-level, 34-foot-long “O” gauge model train layout. Starting with a miniature replica of Grand Central Terminal, the Transit Museum’s collection of model trains, including Metro-North, Polar Express and vintage subway trains, will dazzle the eyes of children and adults alike as they tour the iconic sites. from New York and to the North Pole!

WHERE THE EXHIBITION IS

The exhibit is located in the New York Transit Museum’s Grand Central Gallery and Store, just off the main concourse at the Shuttle Passage, next to the station master’s office. The main lobby of the terminal is accessible by wheelchair from Lexington Avenue y 42nd Street. It is not accessible from Vanderbilt Avenue.
