New York Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday reported the lowest number of COVID-19 hospitalizations since before Thanksgiving 2021.
The state had 2,522 hospitalizations and also had a 7-day average positivity rate below 2.20%. Likewise, on Sunday it reported 41 deaths related to COVID.
“The virus is receding, but our fight against this pandemic is not over,” Governor Hochul said. “While it may be tempting to let our guard down, I urge all New Yorkers to stay vigilant and use the tools we have at our disposal. Vaccines work.”
New York also reported 1,483 new cases of COVID. So far 75.2% of New Yorkers have completed their vaccination series.
Given the improvement in the decrease in cases of COVID-19, At the beginning of this month, the State lifted the measure that required the use of face masks in most closed public places.but mask rules will remain in place in schools for now.
