The New York Red Bulls still have to wait for their second win of the season.
Head coach Gerhard Struber’s team lost 2-0 to Major League Soccer CF Montreal on matchday 9. It is the fifth winless game for the New Yorkers in a row.
An own goal by Reyes (25th) puts Montreal on the road to victory. After Montrales Iliadis was sent off with a second yellow card (65′), the Canadians put the lid on it with fewer players thanks to Choiniere (90+2′).
The criticism of Gerhard Struber will certainly not become quieter as a result. Some fans recently called for the Austrian to be kicked out after a racism scandal involving one of the New York players (Fans demand Struber’s dismissal >>>).
The New York Red Bulls are 13th in the Eastern Conference after nine games with eight points.
Fountas scores when defeating Kara
There is also no win for Ercan Karas Orlando City. The Austrian lost with his club at home to DC United 1-3.
Kara, who is making only his third MLS cap this season, comes on as a 65th-minute substitute while watching former Rapid colleague Taxiarchis Fountas put DC United ahead with his first goal of the season in the 15th minute.
Orlando currently sits ninth in the Eastern Conference with eleven points.
