NY police apprehend Jonathan Majors, ‘Creed III’ thespian on accusations of assault

Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday in New York on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment, authorities said.

New York City police said Majors, the star of the recently released films Creed III y Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. Police responded around 11 a.m. to a 911 call inside an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

“The victim reported to law enforcement that she was assaulted,” an NYPD spokesperson said in a statement. “Officers took the 33-year-old man into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor head and neck injuries and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.”

He was no longer in police custody as of Saturday night, the NYPD spokesman confirmed to The Associated Press.

A rep for Majors denied any wrongdoing on the actor’s part.

“He hasn’t done anything wrong,” the representative said in an email to the AP on Saturday. “We hope to clear his name and clear this up.”

Majors is one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. After making his way into The Last Black Man in San Francisco of 2019, Majors starred in Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall y Devotion from last year. She also stars in the recent participation in the Sundance Film Festival Magazine Dreamswhich Searchlight Pictures will release in December.
