NY, NJ, CT Weather Forecast – NBC New York (47)

Don’t forget your umbrella as we have another round of showers this Thursday.

This system is much more significant than the one we saw on Wednesday as it is expected to bring more rain and even the possibility of some thunderstorms by Thursday. The possibility of thunderstorms was the reason the Yankees’ home opener was postponed.

Up to 2 inches of additional rain is possible for the New York City area. Points to the north and west could see up to 3 inches of additional rain, which could lead to nuisance flooding, but is not expected to cause widespread problems.

The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center shows a “marginal” risk of “excessive rainfall” for the tri-state area, meaning there is a 5% chance rainfall will exceed flash flood guidance.” No warnings of flash floods in effect at this time.

Although the heaviest precipitation is expected to fall Thursday afternoon and evening with the threat of some strong thunderstorms, the possibility of some scattered showers will continue into Friday before drier air arrives for our weekend.

Thursday
Maximum: 50 degrees; cloudy with rain and possible thunderstorms

Friday
Maximum: 60 degrees; mostly cloudy and possible sporadic rain

Saturday
Maximum: 55 degrees; clouds and sun

Sunday
High: 53 degrees; clouds and sun
