NY man sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for raping minor relatives

NEW YORK — A Rockaway Beach man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting two minor relatives over a period of years, the Queens District Attorney’s Office said.

Jason Brown, 37, was sentenced Wednesday after being found guilty last month of two counts of predatory sexual assault of a child, course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, rape in the first and second degrees, three criminal sexual act charges. first degree, one count of second-degree criminal sexual act, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree criminal contempt; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

In addition to his prison sentence, Brown will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.

The sentence is related to a series of horrific events that took place on July 25, 2019, when Brown called the victims, who were 13 and 9 years old at the time, to his bedroom, beat them with a belt and then forced them to have oral sex, according to the charges and testimonies presented at trial.

Brown ordered the younger girl out of the room and raped the 13-year-old girl. The older girl then ran away to a nearby police station and told an officer what had just happened. Brown was arrested.

The girls later shared that they were subjected to a history of sexual and physical abuse by Brown for approximately two years, when the youngest was 8 years old and the oldest was 10 years old.

“This sexual predator stole the innocence of two girls, girls who bravely came forward to tell us the horrors they were forced to endure,” said Queens County Prosecutor Melinda Katz. “While we cannot erase the trauma they suffered, I hope today’s sentencing provides them with a measure of closure.”
