NEW YORK – A 4-month-old baby died after suffering a head trauma and a 23-year-old Brooklyn man was charged in connection with her death, according to police.
New York City Police said officers responded to a call about an injured girl who was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals / Woodhull on June 23 and found her with head trauma. The girl, whom the police identified as Royalty Kemp, died days later at the hospital in Bellevue, July 1.
Later, investigators found that the baby was inside an apartment in Roosevelt Houses in Brooklyn when he suffered his injuries while in Ricardo Price’s care. It is not clear how the two are related, but the uniformed officer said they live in the same apartment where the incident occurred.
Price was arrested and charged with attempted murder, three counts of battery, reckless assault on a child and acting in a manner detrimental to a child under the age of 17.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
