NEW YORK – If you walk around downtown New York, especially through Rockefeller Plaza, don’t be surprised to see a giant soccer ball.
The Pallone Gigante commemorates the titanic live coverage of all 64 matches in Spanish of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup with an on-site team of commentators calling every game from the stadiums available on Telemundo, Universo and Peacock.
The installation seeks to highlight the famous cry of “Goool” by Andrés Cantor of Telemundo Deportes every time a goal is scored in #MundialTelemundo.
ON THE GIANT PEACOCK BALL IN NY
Peacock is channeling fan fervor for the 2022 FIFA Qatar™ World Cup in New York City and Miami with a soccer ball that responds to match action, but will also offer free viewing events open to the public during stage matches in next week’s group stage.
HOW DOES THE GIANT BALL WORK IN NEW YORK?
For each goal, the 33-foot-tall ball will light up in the colors of the team of the country that scored, accompanied by the audio of Andrés Cantor’s legendary Telemundo Deportes “Goool”. Televisions will be installed to allow fans to watch the day’s matches live on Telemundo and Peacock, who will broadcast all matches of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup™ live in Spanish.
