NWES top driver Loris Hezemans before Oval debut in NASCAR Xfinity Series

Loris Hezemans will contest an oval race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Reaume Brothers Racing in March and May – the Dutchman starts in Phoenix and Charlotte

The very young NASCAR team Reaume Brothers Racing has secured the services of Loris Hezemans. The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Champion of the Year 2019 will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series on March 13th at Phoenix Raceway and on May 29th at Charlotte Motor Speedway, thus taking part in two oval races in US NASCAR for the first time .

With Reaume Brothers Racing, the 23-year-old teamed up with a relatively young team that only opened its doors in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2018. During 2020, the team took over the car from RSS Racing in the Xfinity series. In 2021, the team will be fielding a total of three cars: two in the Truck series, one in the Xfinity series.

Hezemans, who has won seven EuroNASCAR races in his career, will take over the number 13 Chevrolet Camaro. The Dutchman’s goal is to gain enough experience in the races so that NASCAR will also allow him to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series in the future. Since there will still be no training and qualifying due to the ongoing pandemic, Hezemans will be thrown into the deep end.

“I am pleased to announce that I will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Reaume Brothers Racing on March 13th in Phoenix,” said Hezemans. “My priority is to bring the car home safely this race weekend and to gain as much experience as possible. Without practice and qualifying, the learning curve will have to be steep, but I’m ready for the challenge. With the experience in Phoenix, I hope to be able to improve on ovals of all sizes over the course of the year. “

Reaume Brothers Racing has only achieved one top five result so far. At that time, Mike Marlar finished fourth at the Eldora Speedway. Team principal Josh Reaume also finished sixth in Daytona in 2019, Jason White finished the Florida race in 2020 in tenth place. In the 2021 season, the team did not finish in the top 20.

Hezemans is not the first NWES driver to try his hand at the NASCAR Xfinity Series: PK Carsport team principal Anthony Kumpen has six races in his career. The current NWES champion Alon Day drove two races in the championship so far. Hezemans made his Xfinity debut on the Road America circuit in 2019. The Dutchman plans to compete in more races in the USA in the future.
