Nvidia has now revealed five different graphics circuits from the company’s RTX 40 series that will take place inside upcoming notebook computers. Everything from Geforce RTX 4050 up to RTX 4090 for the portable segment.
It’s not just the RTX 4070 Ti for desktops that Nvidia is unveiling graphically during CES 2023. As expected, the company has also confirmed that the Ada Lovelace architecture and RTX 40 series will appear in laptops soon. This launch, however, involves five different graphics circuits from the two graphics cards that made up the initial launch of the architecture.
Nvidia’s new laptop chips pretty much cover the entire mid-range segment and enthusiasts when it comes to performance. At the bottom of the new circuit hierarchy is the RTX 4050 with 2,560 CUDA cores and six gigabytes of GDDR6 memory on a 96-bit wide memory bus. Then we have the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 with 3,072 and 4,608 CUDA cores, respectively. Both feature eight gigabytes of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit wide memory bus.
For the enthusiast segment and more expensive laptops, Nvidia is launching portable editions of the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. The former offers 7,424 CUDA cores with twelve gigabytes of video memory on a 128-bit memory bus. The RTX 4090 ships with 9,728 CUDA cores and 16 gigabytes of video memory on an equally large memory bus.
When it comes to the power consumption of the five circuits, this, together with the clock frequencies of the graphics circuits, can be adjusted according to the preferences and needs of computer manufacturers. RTX 4050, 4060 and 4070 can range from 35W up to 115W. RTX 4080 ranges from 60W up to 150W and RTX 4090 can reach up to 175W with Dynamic Boost enabled. Therefore, it’s worth taking a closer look at these numbers and the graphics chip clock rates for each and every computer model you’re considering buying.
The RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 will be available in laptops starting February 8, and pricing for these computers will start at $1,999. The three mid-range circuits will start appearing on PC starting February 22nd. These computers are therefore priced starting at $999.
