NVIDIA spoke about the performance of the GeForce RTX 3070

NVIDIA recently announced the postponement of the release date for GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards to October 29. And so that the interest of potential buyers does not fade away, the company has published data on the performance of the upcoming graphics accelerator.

NVIDIA presented a comparison of the performance of the GeForce RTX 3070 with its predecessor in the face of the GeForce RTX 2070, as well as with the previous flagship – the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. With the latter, we recall, NVIDIA compared the GeForce RTX 3070 during the announcement, saying that the new product is more productive than the RTX 2080 Ti, but it costs much less. Graphics cards were compared in both gaming and production 3D rendering applications as well as synthetic benchmarks.

NVIDIA does not give specific performance indicators (FPS or estimates), but only demonstrates the relative difference. As a unit, the indicators of GeForce RTX 2070 are taken. Nevertheless, the VideoCardz resource counted the number of pixels for each column of the diagram, and found out a more accurate percentage between the performance of these video cards.

Compared to the GeForce RTX 2070, the new RTX 3070 is 68% faster on average. The biggest gain is seen in the Blender application – 126%. When compared with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, then on average the GeForce RTX 3070 showed an advantage of 8%. True, in some tests the upcoming novelty lost: in games Borderlands 3 and Control (with RTX) and also in the Time Spy Extreme test.

On the whole, the presented results can be considered quite good. For $ 500, NVIDIA now offers what was available for $ 1000 two years ago. It remains to wait for independent tests to make sure that NVIDIA was not lying anywhere, and the new GeForce RTX 3070 really outperforms the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti in most cases.
