NVIDIA requires manufacturers to specify the TGP and clock cycles of mobile graphics cards

First of all, NVIDIA says that it does not fundamentally disrupt the Max-Q brand, but the effect is that individual notebook models will no longer use such a designation, while the differences between the performance of the cards in different implementations will remain. Every laptop manufacturer will simply be able to set what they want within the set limits, and NVIDIA strongly encourages them to mention the beats and other relevant information in the specifications.

It can be seen from the published table that this will be very essential information, after all, our mobile RTX 3080 can have a TDP set over 150 W, or even only 80 W, so the impact on work cycles and performance will be huge, specifically 30 percent between Max-P and Max-Q in MSI notebooks. All you have to do is choose the GS66 Stealth 10UH instead of the GE66 Raider 10UH and we will end up with significantly weaker graphics, although we will not find out about it in the manufacturer’s specifications. –

As the next picture shows, the Max-P and Max-Q versions do not really disappear, but it will not be of any use to the customer if he does not see such a designation on his laptop anyway. NVIDIA also promises that the AI system in Dynamic Boost 2.0 will constantly adjust the power scheme with respect to the load with respect to the CPU, GPU and GPU memory. But it is clear that if taken from one small keg, the power simply cannot be as if the wattage allocation was almost doubled.

NVIDIA therefore called on notebook manufacturers to give customers the opportunity to easily navigate this offer and clearly mention supported technologies such as Advanced Optimus, Dynamic Boost 2 and others. However, this challenge has not yet fallen on fertile ground, as the server tracked VideoCardz at Gigabyte, MSI, Razer, Lenovo or Asus. All of these currently only mention the basic version of the graphics card and at best complement the memory capacity.-

In other words, if NVIDIA itself is really serious about taking care of its customers, it should actively work to ensure that manufacturers using its products communicate this information in basic specifications, because in its current form it is the same as buying a computer with Core i7 10th generation and the manufacturer did not tell us what specific model it is. But it is clear that, in the end, it will always depend on the manufacturer himself.

XMG laptops

However, as the server states Tom’s Hardware, for example, the European retailer focusing on XMG and Schenker laptops is already much more shared and states which TGP graphics are set in its models, including the Dynamic Boost add-on. –
