Due to the entry into force of the next package of American sanctions in China, sales of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 video card will cease. The manufacturer has lost the opportunity to supply this model to the country because the AD102 graphics processor that forms its basis is under export control.

The new restrictions came into force on November 17, and NVIDIA decided to draw the attention of Chinese consumers to this fact by removing references to the GeForce RTX 4090 from the Chinese section of the site. The model is no longer listed in the RTX 40 family, and is absent from comparative performance charts – the company made sure that no trace of its presence remains.

Of course, in reality, the Chinese consumer did not lose the opportunity to purchase a flagship video card – it is still sold on trading platforms, but the cost has increased significantly. There is no need to talk about the once recommended retail price: even now it is sold at twice the price, and this is just the beginning. The sanctions imposed by Washington affected not only the Chinese market: before they came into force, NVIDIA increased supplies to Asia, which is why video cards became more expensive everywhere, including the US itself.

It is noteworthy that the GeForce RTX 4090 did not disappear from sections of the NVIDIA website for other countries, although sanctions apply not only to China, but also to other countries of groups D1, D4 and D5. These include: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Burma, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, Cyprus, Egypt, Eritrea, Georgia, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Macau, Moldova, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Republic of Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam , Yemen and Zimbabwe.

In January 2024, NVIDIA, according to some reports, plans to expand the line of video cards, including the release of the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER model – it will be aimed at enthusiasts, although, of course, it will not replace the GeForce RTX 4090. In addition, the company may release a special version of the flagship model, limiting its performance by software, as was the case in the era of cryptomining.
