Nvidia lowers the price of the Geforce RTX 4080 by SEK 900

Since Nvidia once again opened the doors to its own online store, it is possible to acquire the “reference” models with Nvidia’s own Founders Edition cooler, at Nvidia’s target price. That price tag has fluctuated slightly over the year, with most recently in early November meaning an increase for almost the entire Geforce RTX 4000 family.

Now suddenly two of the graphics cards are looking down a relatively good distance. On Nvidia’s website, the Geforce RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 drop by just over 5 percent each. For the former, this means a total of SEK 900 lower price tag, while the little sibling is reduced by SEK 440. The new prices are also slightly lower than they were in October, before the latest increase, but still higher than last summer.

It is probably a matter of a currency adjustment, as a result of a certain rise in the Swedish krona during the month of November. This is consistent with previous adjustments, although it is a slightly larger percentage than the last time. Interestingly, both the RTX 4090 and RTX 4060 Ti remain untouched, which could be due to several reasons.

One possibility is that there is simply still high demand for the RTX 4090, which has been almost in short supply in recent months. Another possibility, which is certainly not quite as likely, is that it is about early preparations for the Super-branded graphics cards they are predicted to launch after the turn of the year. With at least a month left until launch, it is still somewhat early, which is why another currency adjustment is still close at hand.
