Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Release: Powerful Specs and 32GB GDDR7 VRAM Unveiled Ahead of CES 2025

Nvidia has been preparing the release of the RTX 50 for some time, and the GeForce RTX 5090 should have very powerful specifications, according to the informant Kopite7kimi. The insider revealed on his X profile (formerly Twitter), that the GPU should have 32 GB of GDDR7 VRAM memory and will be launched at CES 2025.

In terms of specifications, the expected RTX 5090 could reach the market with the GB202-200-A1 chip, which has 170 Stream Multiprocessors and up to 21,760 CUDA cores, although 24,576 cores the fully functional silicon. If confirmed, Nvidia’s new graphics card could outperform the current RTX 4090 by up to 32%.

However, the biggest difference has to be in the memories. According to the leak, the RTX 5090 would have 32 GB of VRAM in the GDDR7 protocol from a 512-bit interface. This makes the total bandwidth of the chip between 1,800 and 2,000 TB / s. In addition, the GPU consumption should be around 600 W.

The contributor also indicated the technical specifications of the RTX 5080. The model, which is still in the high category, will use the GB203 chip at the highest levels, with 84 stream multiprocessors and 10,752 CUDA cores, representing just 10% more units than the RTX. 4080 original.

The memory part does not change much with this model, because it would continue with 16 GB of VRAM, but now of the GDDR7 type. To achieve this, the chip must work with a maximum bandwidth of about 1,000 TB / s. In terms of consumption, the RTX 5080 should have a TGP (Total Graphics Power) of 400 W, similar to what we see in the RTX 4090.

According to another rumor, this time from the Benchlife website, Nvidia will reveal the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 during CES 2025, held in early January. If it comes to fruition, we can expect the models to be sold between the end of January and the middle of February.
