Nvidia considers having chips made by Intel – Computer – News

Sure, but what % of what they asked when; that is the question.

In my area, ASML suppliers are desperately looking for staff. Even low-tech turning and milling companies can’t handle it.
Carl Zeiss SMT is in the middle of nowhere, getting people there and training them takes time, and the grinding itself also takes 3 months.

Then there is only 1 supplier of certain EUV inspection tools as far as I understand (Lasertec), they are also going to have trouble scaling up in an aging Japan.

So TSMC expands for AMD, makes a special fab for Intel, adds a few EUV lines for Apple.

Samsung receives hundreds of billions of state aid, so it is also expanding.

But the DRAM makers are also partly migrating to EUV.

Then TSMC wants to expand in Phoenix, but Samsung also in Austin.

And then Intel comes in, and it also wants EUV fabs in Germany.

The question then is who gets what and when and how much. All Intel plans together require more EUV than the suppliers can find suitable personnel. And not everyone who goes to ASML can last long in that bureaucracy, I know from a reliable source (from our company there seems to be a footpath to Veldhoven).
