Nvidia attacked by hackers. We know who is behind the attack

Nvidia fell victim to a cyber attack that paralyzed some of the manufacturer’s systems. Until now, it was suspected that Russian hackers might be behind the attack. Are you sure?

As you probably remember, information about the attack appeared a few days ago – on Wednesday Nvidia was supposed to fall victim to a cyber attack that was supposed to shut down some of the manufacturer’s systems for two days. Officially, there was talk of disabling email and developer tools.

The producer confirmed that it was investigating the incident, but refused to disclose any additional information.

It turns out that the matter may be more complicated than it first appeared.

Who really attacked Nvidia?

Until now, it was suspected that Russian hackers might be behind the attack on Nvidia (which was supposed to be related to the aggression in Ukraine and blocking the supply of processors to Russia). It turns out that this is not true.

According to the vx-underground group, the attack on Nvidia was supposed to be carried out by the South American hacker group LAPSU $. Such a trail is to be confirmed by published messages sent to the producer.

The hackers were supposed to hack Nvidia’s servers and steal 1 TB of confidential data. At the moment, however, it is not known what information fell into the hands of cybercriminals (so far they have published the source code of the drivers).

However, this is not the end of the story! According to the source, Nvidia reportedly did not remain passive to the hacker attack and responded with a ramsomware attack on cybercriminals’ servers – the producer was attempting to encrypt the stolen data in this way, but the attack failed.

It is not known whether the hackers made a ransom demand and what they intend to do with the stolen data. We are waiting for the situation to develop.
