It is quite rare to see NVIDIA announce its own product planning, but this is for the Data Center part.
NVIDIA rarely announces its product plans and usually obtains relevant information through word of mouth. In NVIDIA’s October investor presentation, it confirmed the company’s AI product plan for 2024-2025.
Of course, the product code-named “GB” is in memory of David Harold Blackwell, a statistician who was also the first black tenured faculty member at the University of California, Berkeley; Blackwell plans to succeed Hopper, and Blackwell will use “X” in the future is a code name, but at this stage it is impossible to determine which scholar “X” commemorates.
The product planning is indeed very complete, but we can’t help but have a question. It should take 2 years to go from Ada Lovelace to the Blackwell architecture, but only 1 year from Blackwell to the “X” architecture, which is too fast.
In any case, we can now know that NVIDIA will use Blackwell’s single architecture from gaming’s GeForce to AI smart training and other applications. Among them, the LS40S part is the NVIDIA RTX series of products currently used in the field of professional visual computing.
