From Monday, NVE sent out notices about moderate risk of mudslides, mudslides and flash floods from Ofoten and northwards. The reason is higher temperatures than we had at the weekend. “Avalanche incidents can occur. Exposed track and road sections may be closed. Floodslides and mudslides have a long reach and can descend into the valley floor even if they are triggered high in the terrain,” writes Varsom in his warning.
It is encouraged to keep up-to-date on the development of the weather and avalanche situation.
“Stay away from steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with a large flow of water. Keep gutters, basins and other waterways free of snow/ice, gravel, litter, twigs and leaves. Clogged waterways with dammed water can cause landslides.
