A balanced diet can not only have a preventive effect against certain types of cancer, but can also be an important factor in determining the success of cancer therapy. But what specific nutritional tips are there for cancer patients? How do progressive weight loss and muscle loss affect the tolerance of therapy and quality of life? These and other questions are answered by Prof. Dr. Yurdagül Zopf, senior physician at the Medical Clinic 1 – Gastroenterology, Pulmonology and Endocrinology (Director: Prof. Dr. Markus F. Neurath) and head of the Hector Center for Nutrition, Exercise and Sport at the University Hospital Erlangen, and PD Dr. Claudia Löffler, senior physician at the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic II at the University Hospital Würzburg and head of Complementary Oncology Integrative at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Mainfranken, in the next episode of the CCC-WERA podcast “Cancer Research in Discussion”. From Thursday, August 15, 2024, it will be available on all common audio streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcast as well as on the CCC WERA website.
Prof. Zopf and Dr. Löffler speak with moderator Anne Kollikowski about, among other things, the effects of malnutrition on cancer therapy and how one’s own diet can be improved with simple tips. The experts also dispel nutritional myths and present current study results and joint research projects.
