The Nursing Union, Satse, of Valladolid, criticized the fact that flu vaccinations will be carried out this weekend at the urban and rural Continuing Care Points (PAC) in the province “without hiring nurses to carry out this vaccination, as was done last weekend”, which is why he described this mechanism as “improvised”.
The nurses of the urban and rural PACs of Valladolid have received instructions from Sacyl at 2 p.m. today that on Saturday and Sunday “no extraordinary measure will be organized like the ‘vaccination marathon’ last weekend “, but they are told that, “if there are people who come to the PACs requesting the flu vaccine, it will have to be administered.”
The organization reminded Sacyl that “the PACs are points that attend to emergencies and whose professionals work on that task and not on vaccination” and recalled that last weekend, in the urban PAC of Arturo Eyries, they were attended to on one more day of 500 emergencies.
“If Sacyl wants the population to be vaccinated against the flu, it must launch a campaign to do so, hire nurses to carry out the vaccination and inform the population,” defended Satse Valladolid.
The Nursing Union thus rejected this “improvised” way of vaccinating the population because, in addition, “it adds work overload to the nurses who work in the PACs, who see how to their work in attending to emergencies they must add that of vaccinating of the flu.” In addition, he warned that “waiting times are increasing to attend to the population that comes in urgently.”
