Nursing Interns Ensuring the Health and Safety of Children through Vaccination in Tepic’s Historic Center

With the purpose of protecting the health and life of girls and boys under the age of nine, a group of interns from the nursing career carry out their social service applying vaccines in the streets of the Historic Center of Tepic and in the neighborhoods surrounding the clinic. 25 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), located in the vicinity of La Loma park.

On the subject, intern Joel Ernesto Flores Ruiz explained that in addition to applying the normal vaccination scheme to children under nine years of age, now they are immunized against diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus.

He commented that it is extremely important to apply the tetanus vaccine to minors, since during their development and growth they play with sharp objects that are sometimes rusty and that is where the tetanus bacteria is housed.

He clarified that there are no requirements to apply vaccines to minors and parents or guardians, they are only asked to go to the vaccination post with the minor’s card and verify that the vaccine that will be applied has not been used previously.
