Nursing company Benevit is releasing dozens of employees

In December, the Benevit Group introduced compulsory vaccinations in their nursing homes. Now managing director Kaspar Pfister has suspended dozens of employees – because they refused to give the injection.

Benevit managing director Kaspar Pfister released 62 employees in his nursing homes because they did not want to be vaccinated against Corona. After corona outbreaks in the nursing homes, Pfister announced this measure from December in November. He wanted to protect the residents in the nursing homes of the facility from Corona.

According to Pfister, 241 employees decided after his announcement to get vaccinated; 11 employees presented a medical certificate, 8 presented evidence of antibodies. “With 13 employees, the employment relationship is terminated by notice or termination agreement,” said Pfister. At the same time, however, 68 employees were newly hired or returned from maternity or parental leave. According to its own information, Benevit has around 2,000 employees.

96 percent of employees with immunity status

According to Pfister, around 96 percent of employees currently have an immunity status, i.e. have either been vaccinated, recovered, have antibodies or a medical certificate. “Since more employees decide to have a vaccination every day, I hope to reach 98 percent in January.” Since the beginning of the pandemic, 42 residents, clients and one employee in the Benevit facilities have died from or with Corona.

At the beginning of the year Pfister tried “with carrot” to increase the willingness of employees to have corona vaccinations. In addition to a bottle of eggnog, a bonus of 1,000 euros should also go to a facility or a care team. The prerequisite was that at least 60 percent of the employees there had to be vaccinated. The reason for the campaign was the low willingness to vaccinate in the workforce at the 26 facilities of the Benevit Group. “The original quota of 30 percent that indicated a willingness to vaccinate has not changed,” said Pfister at the time.

He came up with eggnog because the residents received a glass of it upon request after each corona smear. There were some employees who wanted that too. With these words Pfister ended his appeal: “It is now up to each individual to defeat this damn virus.”
