Nursery bonus, applications open for 2024. Here’s how the contribution works, which is worth up to 327 euros per month

Let’s start with the applications for the nursery bonus. INPS, with message 1024 of 11 March, made the opening of the procedure official, with the possibility of requesting the contribution until the end of 2024.

Commonly known as a nursery school bonus, in reality the contribution is twofold: it concerns support for the payment of fees for public and private nurseries affiliated with local authorities; but also “the use of forms of support at home, in favor of children under three years of age suffering from serious chronic pathologies”.

Who gets the bonus and for how much

INPS details that the contribution is recognized for each child under 36 months of age. The application must indicate the months of attendance at the nursery, between January and December 2024, up to a maximum of 11 monthly payments. If the boy or girl turns three in 2024, it is possible to request only the monthly payments between January and August 2024.

How much is the contribution worth?

The Institute’s message reminds us that the bonus has gradually grown and that, for 2024, based on theIsee minors it is structured as follows:

• a maximum of 3,000 euros (ten installments of 272.73 euros and one of 272.70 euros) with ISEE up to 25,000.99 euros;
• a maximum of 2,500 euros (ten installments of 227.27 euros and one of 227.30 euros) with ISEE from 25,001 euros up to 40,000 euros;
• a maximum of 1,500 euros (ten installments of 136.37 euros and one of 136.30 euros) with ISEE over 40 thousand euros, in the absence of ISEE, or in the presence of ISEE with omissions and/or discrepancies in the data of the movable assets and /or self-declared income data, with conflicting ISEE and again with ISEE not calculable.

With the Maneuver some innovations have arrived which concern exclusively families with newborns starting from 1 January 2024 – Meloni spoke of “free nursery schools – and who have at least a second child under the age of ten. In these cases the ceilings become:

• 3,600 euros (ten installments of 327.27 euros and one of 327.30 euros) with ISEE up to 40,000 euros;
• 1,500 euros (ten installments of 136.37 euros and one of 136.30 euros) with ISEE over 40,000 euros, without ISEE, with ISEE containing omissions and/or discrepancies in the personal property data and/or self-declared income data, with ISEE discordant.

The amounts due are divided month by month in the case of nursery schools: when applying, you will opt for a domiciliary bank transfer, credit to a bank or postal current account, postal passbook or prepaid card with Iban, foreign current account Sepa Area. While they are provided in a single solution for support at home. Payments, INPS always says, will start from 2 April.

How to submit the application

A request for a minor must be submitted, clarifying which of the two contributions you intend to access. The application is entirely electronic, through:

• portal web of the Institute. The suggestion is to type “nursery bonus” in the search engine on the website www.inps.it, then authenticating using your digital identity: SPID level 2 or higher, Electronic Identity Card (CIE) 3.0 or National Service Card (CNS);
• Patronage Institutes, using the services offered by them.

For parents or foster carers of minors who already received the bonus in 2023, the procedure includes a pre-compiled application for 2024 which can be confirmed.

For the nursery bonus, it is necessary to attach documentation of the payment of the fees (receipt, receipted invoice, bank or postal slip or, for company nurseries, certification from the employer or nursery that the fee has been paid or deducted from the pay slip) with all the necessary information: name and VAT number of the nursery, name, surname or tax code of the minor, reference month, payment details or payment receipt, name, surname and tax code of the parent who bears the burden of the fee (which must coincide with the person requesting the contribution) .

To speed up payments, it is possible self-certify the amount requested for each monthly payment when sending the payment slip, entering the value of the monthly fee, any amount for meals and the stamp duty of 2 euros.

Proceeding in this way, the crediting of the due installment will take place automatically, with a notable reduction in disbursement times.

For support at home, however, a certificate is required, issued by a pediatrician of free choice, which declares the child’s inability to attend nursery school for the entire year due to a serious chronic pathology..

The deadline for reporting expenses is on July 31, 2025for both types of contribution.
