A nurse at a Cambodian hospital, who directly placed an intravenous drip on the late Seo Se-won, who died last month, testified that she “injected two bottles of propofol.” MBC’s ‘Exploration of True Story’, which aired on the 18th, dealt with the ‘mystery of the late Seo Se-won’s death’.

Seo Se-won died on the 20th of last month at a hospital in Cambodia after receiving fluid. The cause of death, announced by Cambodian police, was cardiac arrest caused by diabetes. At the time of the deceased’s death, it was speculated that it was propofol, a sleeping anesthetic called milk injection, for the white sap found at the scene.

The ‘True Story Exploration Team’ found Mr. Kim, who worked with Seo Se-won. Mr. Kim stubbornly denied the theory that his deceased had used propofol. It is known that the hospital where the deceased died was not operated for several years after opening in 2019, but was taken over with Seo Se-won at the suggestion of Mr. Kim in the second half of last year and was preparing to operate again.

The production team revealed a text message exchanged with a nurse who placed an intravenous ringer on Seo Se-won. The nurse testified that the deceased had administered propofol, saying, “I injected propofol separately.” He admitted that he injected vitamins first and then injected propofol separately, saying that the picture of propofol shown by the production team was “correct”.

In particular, the nurse drew attention by explaining about propofol in the photo, “Seo Se-won brought it to me. It was already opened.” It is also readily available at local pharmacies. The nurse revealed that she “injected two bottles” to Seo Se-won. 2 vials turned out to be 100 mL of propofol. Propofol 100mL is the amount to be administered when major surgery is performed for more than 5 hours.

Regarding this, Deok-gyeong Kim, a professor of anesthesia and pain medicine at Sungkyunkwan University, said, “If a person suffering from diabetes was hit, it could have led to death.”

When asked, “Why did you give 100mL of propofol at once?”, the nurse replied, “Seo Se-won’s driver said that Seo Se-won gets two bottles of propofol twice a week, so he should administer it at once.” Seo Se-won did not have a driver. It turned out that the person who gave the order was the driver of Mr. Kim, Seo Se-won’s partner.

Meanwhile, Seo Se-won, who was staying in Cambodia, suffered cardiac arrest at Mirae Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the 20th of last month at 11:30 am (Korean time) while receiving intravenous injections. Afterwards, medical staff at a nearby general hospital attempted first aid, but he died at 3 p.m.

On the 28th, eight days after his death, the bereaved family cremated the body and moved the remains to Korea to hold a funeral.
