Webster, NY – A licensed nurse practitioner, Sandra Miceli, who operated a natural wellness center called “Surviving Naturally” in Webster, has been hit with a significant fine for orchestrating a fraudulent vaccination scheme that affected 116 children across New York State. The scheme involved creating fake immunization records for a total of 546 vaccinations that were never administered.

Safety Concerns Raised

Through an investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Health, it was discovered that Miceli has a long history of spreading misinformation about vaccines and opposing immunization requirements. In addition to participating in the creation of fictitious records, Miceli actively promoted anti-vaccination propaganda on social media, sowing fear and doubt about the effectiveness and safety of vaccines.

Impact on Children and Schools

The fraudulent vaccination scheme began shortly after the state eliminated non-medical exemptions for required school immunizations in 2019. As a result, the immunization records of 116 children have been voided. In order to return to school or day care, these children must either be up to date with their immunizations or in the process of doing so. The Department of Health (DOH) is actively working with affected families and schools to ensure compliance.

Condemnation of Miceli’s Actions

Joseph Giovannetti, Director of Investigations for the New York State Department of Health, has strongly condemned Miceli’s actions, deeming them both illegal and dangerous. Giovannetti emphasizes the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and asserts that Miceli’s dissemination of false information regarding immunizations was unwarranted and undermined public health efforts.

Criminal Penalties and Restrictions

As a consequence of her actions, Miceli has already paid a significant fine of $30,000, and additional penalties loom if she fails to maintain full compliance with public health regulations. These penalties include permanent exclusion from the New York State Immunization Information System and a ban on administering any immunizations required to be reported to the system.

Miceli declined to comment on the matter when contacted by our news team.
