Darmstadt – The strong home SV Darmstadt 98 inflicted their first defeat of the season for 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2. Bundesliga.
The Franks, which were still unbeaten until Friday evening, lost 0: 2 (0: 1) in front of 13,000 spectators at the Böllenfalltor.
The hosts celebrated the fifth home win in a row after goals from striker Luca Pfeiffer (11th minute) and Nuremberg defender Christopher Schindler, who unfortunately extended a corner with his head into his own housing (58th). With 20 points, Darmstadt moved up to one point in the table against the Nuremberg team.
Three days after the cup was knocked out on penalties, the defeat of the Franks only became a strength problem in the course of the game. Above all, however, the Darmstadt tactics worked very well. The lilies usually left the ball to the guests. However, the “club” did not develop enough power from possession of the ball. After the first chances for Darmstadt’s Philipp Tietz (2nd) and FCN attacker Manuel Schäffler (8th), an attack on the right wing ended with Pfeiffer’s ninth goal of the season.
Schäffler and Nikola Dovedan could not punish a mistake by 98 goalkeeper Marcel Schuhe with a 1: 1 double chance (43.). After the 0: 2, the “club” could not mobilize enough energy. The belief in a turnaround waned with all efforts. The Darmstadt team earned the victory with a lot of running effort and greater effectiveness in front of the opposing goal.
