Nuremberg cosplay group visits the children’s clinic

The cosplay group “Ghostbusters Nuremberg” visited the Erlanger Children’s Hospital to bring joy to the patients at a Halloween event.

Meet Spider-Man or pose for a photo with Ice Queen Elsa: The “Ghostbusters Nuremberg” walking act with various Disney and superhero costumes created, according to a press release, an “exuberant atmosphere and beautiful moments” in the children’s and youth clinic (director : Prof. Dr. Joachim Wölfle) of the Erlangen University Hospital. A member of the Nuremberg cosplay group works at the Erlangen University Hospital and came into contact with Marion Müller, the head educator at the children’s clinic.

“We quickly planned a Halloween event to chase away the evil spirits and spread a good mood,” reported the cosplayer while preparing the walking act. The team of educators organized a photo box for the event in which the patients could have their photos taken with their heroes. Each child then had a printed photo and a unique souvenir in their hand.

It started in pediatric oncology so that the children and young people who were not allowed to leave their hospital bed or the ward had the opportunity to take photos with their heroes. Later, the twelve cosplayers moved into the foyer of the children’s hospital with the photo box. Other young patients were already waiting here for the opportunity for pictures, hugs and high fives.

Some had even prepared specifically: one girl, for example, wore the matching “Frozen” T-shirt with the inscription “Believe in yourself” for her photo with Elsa. Marion Müller thinks that the organizational effort was definitely worth it: “We have so many little heroes on the ward and in treatment. It’s just nice when they meet their big heroes – regardless of whether it’s Elsa, Spider-Man or the Ghostbusters.”
