An auction platform from Nuremberg is auctioning off more than 50,000 objects used at the Olympic Games online, including deck chairs, barrier tape and parasols.
A Nuremberg auction platform is auctioning off more than 50,000 items that were used at the Olympic Games in Paris. The first items have already arrived at the warehouse of the company Restlos.com in Nuremberg, its managing director Fabian Altrichter told the German Press Agency. The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation was the first to report on this.
The items include parasols, deck chairs and barrier tape with the logo of the 2024 Olympic Games, as well as sofas, massage tables, slot machines and even the inventory of a hair salon. This was set up especially for the athletes during the games. “Because of the enormous quantity, we have to distribute the items to different locations,” said Altrichter. “We receive inquiries from interested parties every day.”
Restlos.com plans to begin auctioning the items online around mid-September. Sports enthusiasts will then be able to secure a souvenir of the games in Paris. According to the auction platform, some of the items will be donated to the “The Golden Ring” association. The association supports sporting talents from Nuremberg with scholarships and will then auction off the donated items itself.
According to its own information, Restlos.com is one of the leading recycling companies for used industrial goods and specializes in buying up bankruptcy assets or dissolved companies and shops. The request to sell the Olympic items came from the US auction house B-Stock Solutions LLC and from RGS Events Ltd., the official supplier of the Olympic Games, said Altrichter. The companies came across the Nuremberg auction platform through their own research.
