Numerous reports of storm damage in the area of responsibility of the police headquarters in South Hesse

Darmstadt (ots) – When the wind picked up on Saturday morning (March 13th, 2021), reports of storm damage increased at the police control center in Darmstadt. In Bürstadt on Boxheimerhofstrasse, a sheet of corrugated iron slipped on a container at a height of about 8 meters and had to be secured by the fire brigade and dismantled by a specialist company. In the Urberacher Strasse in Eppertshausen, the fire brigade felled a tree that hung across the road. The same picture was presented to the rescue workers in Raunheim on Haßlocher Strasse, as well as in Rüsselsheim on Eisenstrasse and in Mörfelden-Walldorf on Industriestrasse. Here too, the trees were felled by the fire brigade. In Ginsheim-Gustavsburg, a construction site sign that was blown over damaged a parked car. No damage was caused by construction site signs being blown over in Karlstrasse in Darmstadt and in Roßdorf-Gundernhausen in Bruchwiesenstrasse. Election posters went into business for themselves in Bensheim-Auerbach in the Berliner Ring and in Birkenau in the Hauptstrasse. In Weiterstadt-Graefenhausen on Mittelstrasse, a car trailer parked on the edge of the road was pushed onto another vehicle parked there by the wind. This resulted in minor property damage to the car. The most spectacular incident in connection with the storm happened to a road user on Autobahn 5 between Pfungstadt and Gernsheim, who lost control of his vehicle due to a gust of wind and was thrown across the Autobahn into the field. Fortunately, he and other road users were unharmed. There was no collision with other road users.
