On August 10th, at around 7:30 a.m., a rear-end collision between two vehicles occurred at the Inntaldreieck in the direction of Salzburg. A 56-year-old vacationer from Bochum failed to see the end of the traffic jam in his SUV and drove into another vehicle. The passengers in both vehicles were slightly injured and were taken to Rosenheim Hospital. Both vehicles were no longer drivable and had to be towed away. The total damage amounts to 20,000 euros. Criminal proceedings for negligent bodily harm have been initiated against the person who caused the accident.
Marijuana in the blood
At 8:45 a.m., a 22-year-old driver from Vienna/Austria called the police and said that she was driving her minibus from the A8 from Salzburg onto the A93 towards Austria. In a bend, the woman lost control of her vehicle due to excessive speed and collided with the guard rail. When the police recorded the accident, they found that the woman was under the influence of marijuana. A rapid drug test was carried out and came back positive. A blood sample was taken from the 22-year-old. She is now being investigated for endangering road traffic as a result of intoxicating substances. The material damage to the guard rail and the minibus amounts to almost 20,000 euros.
Serious accident on the A8
Around midnight, a serious accident occurred on the A8 in the direction of Salzburg. Shortly after Irschenberg, a 51-year-old father lost control of his vehicle combination, a car with a caravan. He was unable to prevent the caravan from breaking away. As a result, the entire vehicle combination rolled over twice. The caravan ripped off the trailer hitch and was left completely destroyed in an adjacent meadow. After the car also rolled over twice, it remained on the passenger side and blocked the motorway. The family of four, parents and two children, were fortunately able to free themselves from the wreckage and get to safety. Other road users helped and secured the accident site until the emergency services arrived. The family from the Fürstenfeldbruck district was only slightly injured in the accident. The occupants suffered bruises and minor cuts. All four were taken to Rosenheim Hospital for further treatment.
However, the complex recovery of the vehicle combination was not completed until 3:15 a.m. Two lanes had to be closed for the accident investigation and recovery work. Traffic was diverted via the third lane. Due to the continued heavy passenger traffic, there were major traffic jams. The total damage amounted to more than 30,000 euros.
Car versus semi-trailer
At 3:15 a.m., an accident also occurred on Irschenberg in the direction of Salzburg between a car with a caravan and a semi-trailer. Both drivers failed to see each other when changing lanes on the road and collided sideways. The damage to property amounted to 1,500 euros. Both vehicles were able to continue driving after the accident was recorded. Both drivers were given a fine. fb
