Number of Vodafone subscribers increases by 45,000, number of Ziggo customers continues to fall – IT Pro – News

In the past quarter, Ziggo lost a total of 9,100 internet customers and Vodafone gained 45,000 mobile subscribers. On an annual basis, Ziggo has 35,000 fewer internet customers and an additional 228,000 Vodafone subscribers.

VodafoneZiggo has been seeing for a long time reduce the number of regular customers, although fewer customers left in the last quarter than in the previous quarter. In the last quarter of 2021, 9100 internet customers left the company, compared to 14,000 customers in the previous quarter. Ziggo now has 3.33 million fixed internet customers. The provider does not specify why the customers have left, but rather said it was suffering from competition from fiber optic providers.

At the moment, 73 percent of Ziggo’s customers have access to a subscription with a download speed of 1Gbit/s. This year, the whole of the Netherlands must have access to this subscription. The company also says that 1.2 million customers have SmartWifi pods.

Ziggo not only lost internet customers, but also TV and telephone customers. As a result, Ziggo now has 3.74 million customers. That is almost a hundred thousand less than a year earlier. In the past quarter, Ziggo lost 24,900 TV customers and 59,900 telephone customers. Fixed services also yielded less turnover for VodafoneZiggo in the past quarter: compared to a year earlier, this decreased by 1.9 percent to 517.5 million euros.

Mobile services did provide VodafoneZiggo with more turnover: it rose by 4.2 percent to 233.1 million euros in the past quarter. The number of subscribers increased by 44,900 to 4.99 million. The number of prepaid customers did drop: from 7,200 customers to 380,300 customers. 1.49 million households had both a mobile and a fixed subscription; this equates to 2.47 million SIM cards, according to the company.

VodafoneZiggo had a total consumer turnover of 754.9 million euros in the past quarter, 0.1 percent less than a year earlier. EBITDA, or operating profit, rose 5.1 percent to EUR 482.8 million.
