More nights were counted in Bavarian hotels and guesthouses in the public holiday month of August than before the coronavirus pandemic. With around 12.1 million overnight stays, it was around half a million more than in August 2019, as announced on Friday by the Bavarian State Statistical Office. At 4.2 million, the number of guests arriving is still slightly below the comparative value it was three years ago.
The number of overnight stays has been steadily increasing since the beginning of the year: from January to August a total of 61.5 million overnight stays in Bavarian accommodation facilities were counted.
