Number of new corona cases increased by 4924, more corona patients in hospital | Inland

The cities where the most new corona infections were detected in the past 24 hours are Amsterdam (234), Rotterdam (128) and The Hague (98). Of the safety regions, Brabant-Zuidoost (350) and Utrecht (322) were the ones that registered the most positive corona tests.

In the past 24 hours, 30 deaths from corona have been reported. There have been many more in recent days. There were 89 on both Saturday and Friday. According to the RIVM, there were 91 deaths on Thursday and 87 on Wednesday. It does not mean that all these people died in a 24-hour period. When a corona patient dies, it is sometimes only passed on after a while.

More corona patients in hospital

The number of people admitted to hospitals with corona has increased over the past 24 hours. A total of 2343 patients with Covid-19 have now been admitted, 41 more than the day before. This is reported by the National Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

Of the patients admitted with Covid-19, 676 are so ill that they are in intensive care, seven more than the day before. In nursing wards, the number of corona patients increased by 34 over the past 24 hours to 1,667.

Four Dutch corona patients are in intensive care in Germany, the same number as Saturday.

The average number of admissions has been fairly stable over the past week. Therefore, the LCPS expects the downward trend in occupancy to continue slowly. Nevertheless, an increase is also taken into account, because the British variant of the coronavirus is much more contagious than the current variant, so that the number of infections and the influx into hospitals can increase rapidly.
