The monkeypox virus has been diagnosed in 925 people in the Netherlands. That is 47 more than with the last update last Thursday. Since last Monday, 107 people have tested positive. That is the smallest increase on a weekly basis since July 4, but according to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), it is still too early to draw conclusions about the development of the disease.

Most people who tested positive are men who have sex with men. Part of that group has therefore been able to get preventive vaccinations since last week. The virus has also been diagnosed in six women, the same number as last Thursday, and in one child.

The region of North Holland and Flevoland has the most confirmed infections, namely 570. This includes Amsterdam. This is followed by the West region with 146 confirmed monkey pox cases.
