The number of infections linked by the GGD to the Aspen Valley discotheque in Enschede has increased further. It is now known that about 165 visitors have been infected with the corona virus. A spokesperson for the GGD Twente confirms this after a message from Tubantia.
About 600 people attended the party in Aspen Valley last Saturday. It was the first party given in the disco since the outbreak of the corona pandemic.
It is unclear how it is possible that there were people at the party who were found to be infected with the corona virus, despite the mandatory negative test or vaccination certificate. Incidentally, it is impossible to say whether all 165 infected people contracted the virus that evening in the disco.
Lots of enthusiasm for testing
The GGD has called on everyone who visited Aspen Valley last Saturday to be tested, even if there were no complaints. According to the GGD spokesperson, this is being followed well.
But it is not clear whether all those present at the party have been tested, because the GGD does not have visitor lists. It is also not known how the people who have become infected are doing.
It is also still unclear which variant of the coronavirus is involved. The RIVM is investigating this, the GGD says.
