The average number of daily infections with the corona virus in our country has fallen below 9,000. In the week up to April 11, an average of 8,978 infections were detected daily, according to the latest data from health institute Sciensano.

That is a decrease of 14 percent. There was also a decline the week before, the first in five weeks.
But the number of tests is now also a lot lower: -16 percent to an average of 32,700 per day. Nearly 30 percent of those tests turned out to be positive.
The number of hospital admissions is rising again, to an average of 220.1 patients per day (+2 percent). The week before, there was still a slight drop.
At the moment, 3,176 patients with Covid-19 are in a Belgian hospital. That is an increase of 4 percent on a weekly basis. In intensive care there was also an increase (+5 percent) to 194 patients.
On average, 23.7 people still die every day from Covid-19, a stable figure.
