Number of Dutch corona patients in intensive care decreased to 934 | NOW

The number of Dutch corona patients in intensive care has decreased by 25 to 934 on Sunday, reports Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the Landelijk Netwerk Acute Zorg. The National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) speaks of a decrease “as expected”.

“We still see a slight decrease overall, with small regional differences. Where this leads to a high burden on a hospital, this is first resolved in our own ROAZ (Regional Consultation Acute Care Chain)”, Kuipers reports.

“Where it leads to a high load on an entire region, the LCPS coordinates trips to another region and to Germany.”

Of the 934 IC patients, 33 are in German wards; 4 less than Saturday. These persons have been transferred back to Dutch departments. Five patients have been moved between regions in the Netherlands, four of whom have been taken to an ICU.

Friday was the number of corona patients on the IC for it first since March dropped below a thousand. Kuipers said he hoped that the number of corona patients on ICs would drop to five hundred in the next two weeks, which would be in line with the currently visible decline.

In addition to the 934 COVID-19 patients, there are also 395 patients with other conditions in intensive care.
